Inside OpenSEP

Your files should have a checkout time.

A workspace with a specific purpose.

You bring a recording to OpenSEP because you want something done with it: a separated track, dialogue separated from music and effects, or a transcript. Holding that recording indefinitely is a different job from processing it.

We think the boundary should be easy to understand. Your upload supports the task you request. Your result gives you time to listen, review, and download. Both are kept for a stated window, and the workspace tells you how long.

Two clocks, clearly shown.

Uploads are deleted after 1 day. Results stay available for 3 days.

The workspace shows how long uploads and results are kept. Download anything you need to keep inside that window. OpenSEP is a place to process audio; your own storage is the place for your archive.

You should be able to tell what happens to your file without reading between the lines.

Your audio. Your decision.

Deleting a job removes its results right away, before their scheduled expiry. The original upload is not deleted with the job; it goes on its own (1 day after upload). Your recordings are not used to train models. Those choices are part of the product’s basic behavior, not an extra paid feature.

A short retention window does not replace sensible judgment about what you upload. Use recordings you have the right to process, and keep a copy of important source material in a place you control.

One small habit helps.

Make downloading the result part of finishing the task. Preview it, check that it meets your needs, save it to your project folder, and open the saved file once. That last check catches a forgotten or incomplete download while there is still time to act.

The aim is a workflow with fewer loose ends: bring in your audio, get the result, and take the work with you.
